DefenDeD BorDer
by Daniel sekulich
Borderline explores the aftermath of the 9 / 11 terrorist
attacks as experienced by ordinary people living
and working along the Canada-U. S. Border following
filmmaker and journalist Daniel Sekulich as he
treks across North America from the Atlantic to the
Pacific on both sides of the international line. Via an
assortment of characters along their journey they
discover/describe how lives have been altered by 9 / 11.
They encounter fishermen, farmers, military personnel,
ranchers, shop owners, truckers, Native leaders, im-
migrants, border officials, former RCMP officers and any-
one else with a story to tell. It is a scenic, humorous
and above all thought-provoking cross-country journey
that reveals how its almost scary obsession with security
has changed the United States since the September
attacks and where this could lead us …
otto / HoW to treat
Differentness
by Janina Jung
Bouchbennersch Otto (born Otto Müller) was born
in Emmerichenhain, Germany in 1907. He witnessed two
world wars, was trained as a bookbinder and later
became police-servant for the community, announced
news in Emmerichenhain and the surrounding vil-
lages with a bell. Everyone knew Otto, but no one knew
who he really was. Otto was different. Unlike all
the others. The documentary Bouchbennersch Otto looks
behind the facade of a village and depicts how people
treat each other.
