tHe increDiBles
by David Valero
The story of three everyday heroes: Broken Wing, The
Iron Lady and Radioactive Woman. Three people
who suffer the adversities that life throws up and fight
the most terrifying villains: death, lack of affection
and loneliness. We accompany them in their daily lives
of suffering and rejection. But they never give up –
they continue their struggle to find happiness, because
they are heroes … Ninety-four year old María (aka ‘The
Iron Lady’) survived cancer twice at a younger age. Now
she finds herself outliving friends and relatives. But
strong-minded María has lost none of her zest for life …
Juan (52), ‘Broken Wing’, struggles with depression and
is desperate to find a love to free him from his loneli-
ness. After a motorcycle accident years ago, his right
arm is paralysed – a turning point in his life, which also
cost him his marriage. Joana (‘Radioactive Woman’)
receives a cancer diagnosis shortly before her 31st birth-
day. Her fight for survival begins. A battle that will
leave its mark on Joana’s relationships and whose outcome
remains uncertain … The Incredibles is the feature-
length début of director David Valero. Between bound-
less sadness and heart-warming tenderness, some-
times wonderfully bizarre or painful but always full
of humanity.
Witness a portrait of a new breed of artist: the video-
game designer. At first, the only way to make it as
a designer in the video game industry was to work with
major developers. Now, like in the film industry
a generation ago, a new breed of independent auteurs
have taken their industry by storm. These programmers
have spent years of their lives building entirely new
games from the bottom up. Risking everything, their
results are deeply personal, visionary works whose
success has redefined the gaming industry.
