MotHer’s DaY
At 11, I met my mother for the first time; then she
vanished again. Later, I recognized her in a magazine
article. I wasn’t sure if she was really my mother, so
I looked up her birth certificate to compare my mother’s
name with the person’s in the magazine. Only then I
learned that my mother was Yeh Su Nee, one of the most
popular Hong Kong writers whose novels fill entire
shelves in any bookstore. So far, I have successfully re-
pressed my mother from my life: wouldn’t it be better to
continue like that ? Is it not too late for a 44-year-old
who has a child of his own to search for his 65-year-old
mother whom he doesn’t even know and flood her
with questions ? I am sure to find her and try to imagine
her voice. How nervous will I be calling her ? I’ll
probably say something like, ‘Hello, it’s me, Bin Chuen
Choi, your son. Long time no see. Shall we meet ?’
But how will she react ? Perhaps she’ll refuse to see me
or say, ‘It did take you very long to call. Let’s go eat
Dim Sum. I know a good spot downtown.’
Dok Market
A TV launch of the extraordinary romance where Polish
alpinists Eliza Kubarska and David Kaszlikowski
take a journey inside the fjords of southern Greenland to
reach the world’s highest sea cliff. The huge granite
wall is reachable only by Kayak across an eerie, stormridden
and freezing sea. Capsizing in this area
means hypothermia and death within minutes. Several
days of risky cliff climbing follow – all for a kiss at
1500 metres. An extraordinary romance in one of the
most beautiful landscapes you have ever seen. TV release
of the 63’ festival version called What Happened on
Pam Island ?, which has been shown and awarded at a
large number of festivals around the world.
