Visions du réel
A common interest
in the creative documentary in
all its diversity has
led to an intense collaboration.
For several years, the international film festival Visions du
Réel, Nyon and the promotion agency Swiss Films have
been presenting some of the newest and most interesting
Swiss films at Leipzig’s DOK Market. A common
interest in, and commitment to, the creative documentary
in all its diversity has led to an intense and successful
collaboration with DOK
Leipzig.
The Swiss films presented
here are part of the well
known independent
documentary film tradition
in Switzerland, which
is a result of a long history of
support adopted by the state and the country’s regions,
as well as by the public television broadcasters.
Coming from all parts of Switzerland, the films share an
aesthetic and ethic commitment in all their exciting
diversity of genres, approaches, points of view and styles
of writing and all have an individual fingerprint. They
are made by experienced as well as new directors and
producers. They explore collective memories or individual
destinies, tell spectacular stories or impress by intimate
narrative. Many of them got great responses by press
and public in international film festivals and are going to
be distributed worldwide and released in cinemas.
Most of the films have been shown at the 2012 Visions du
Réel in Nyon. You may notice that we are convinced
that documentary filmmaking not only deals with subjects,
but also and above all, with form and aesthetics. We invite
you to join Visions du Réel’s next edition between
19 and 26 April 2013. You will discover outstanding world
and international premieres in the festival programme
and attend inspiring encounters with film makers from all
over the world. Within the large programme of the
Doc Outlook International Market, you will find around
350 selected films at the Media Library and may attend
the Pitching du Réel, Docs in Progress, Focus Talk and Rough
Cut Lab to discuss current subjects at the panels.
See you soon,
