A unique way of life that repeats itself every day, slowly<br />
transformed Imre and Piroska in some museum<br />
ex hibits. In a quiet and isolated world we meet a couple<br />
whose existence begins to depend on the inter action<br />
with a different world and the absurd within. Their line<br />
of work turned them into a sort of local attraction,<br />
and vacationing foreigners are brought to see ‘the bears’<br />
and photograph themselves with them. Their life<br />
stands still, like in a museum diorama, from which they<br />
are trying to break through.<br />

The film follows the fight of a farmer, Eugen David, for<br />
the survival of his beautiful village and his happy<br />
life in the mountains of Romania. A Canadian company<br />
wants to open Europe’s largest opencast goldmine<br />
here. They plan to relocate the people and destroy four<br />
mountains along with part of Rosia Montana itself, a<br />
2,000-year-old settlement, with its historical monuments<br />
and unique, ancient galleries. The local population<br />
is made up of unemployed miners who support the plan<br />
while Eugen and his family are not willing to accept<br />
the local landscape being turned into something more<br />
similar to the surface of the moon. In their opinion,<br />
the planned construction of a cyanide mine and tailing<br />
pond will quite possibly create the biggest ecological<br />
time bomb Europe has ever seen. The plan splits the<br />
once peaceful community in two. Brothers and friends<br />
become enemies. Politicians come and go, but no one<br />
has passed a decision on the gigantic project so far.<br />
Eugen, the most powerful landholder, refuses to leave his<br />
home. He wants to protect his land, the churches and<br />
the cemeteries. In a fight against the Gold Corporation,<br />
our hero brings the battle from his farm all the way<br />
to Brussels.<br />
As this film is part of the <strong>DOK</strong>.Incubator workshop 2012 and<br />
still in post-production, <strong>DOK</strong> Market presents only a trailer.<br />
