Festival for Documentary and Animated Film and to the<br />
2012 edition of the <strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> industry and training<br />
section. It is a very great pleasure to be among the funding<br />
partners to this extraordinary event which will once<br />
again prove to be one of the<br />
most prestigious and<br />
important meeting points<br />
in the world of documentary<br />
filmmaking.<br />
Following the steps of the<br />
<strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> film festival<br />
with its long tradition,<br />
the <strong>DOK</strong> industry segments<br />
have become an excellent and well established service<br />
platform delivering a rich variety of offers: high-quality<br />
international projects, excellent business contacts and<br />
an interesting framework programme in a nice, exclusive<br />
and concentrated atmosphere.<br />
During the next days you will find yourself in the company<br />
of 1400 selected international filmmakers, producers,<br />
financiers, distributors and commissioning editors. They<br />
all come here to find new ideas or new partners for<br />
their upcoming films or media projects. To meet your needs<br />
the <strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> team has again developed an extensive<br />
line-up of events – including the <strong>DOK</strong> Market, the<br />
International Co-Production Meeting, case studies and<br />
sessions on current international trends and financing<br />
strategies, to be discussed by renowned experts, as well as<br />
numerous opportunities for networking and learning.<br />
Having introduced its innovative training offers last year<br />
with the successful <strong>DOK</strong> Net Lab as well as the Cross<br />
Media workshops, <strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> has implemented another<br />
new training opportunity this year – at <strong>DOK</strong>.Incubator<br />
you can take a first look at brand new projects from Europe’s<br />
promising filmmakers.<br />

Nowadays, big film festivals like <strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> no longer<br />
just function as a glittering platform for films to be<br />
presented or as an important meeting point for film and<br />
media professionals from all over the world. Their role<br />
as creative hub for knowledge transfer and information as<br />
well as for the sustainable support of film projects is<br />
be coming more and more important. In times of continuous<br />
shifts film festivals serve as change indicators<br />
and strengthen and support the development, production<br />
and distribution of creative documentary films.<br />
Therefore, <strong>DOK</strong> <strong>Leipzig</strong> has decided to extend its<br />
activities out through the year and is launching, together<br />
with us, the six-month training initiative <strong>DOK</strong>.Incubator.<br />
As times are challenging for the documentary market<br />
production companies are<br />
being forced to completely<br />
shift their way of thinking,<br />
film producing and<br />
distributing to make the<br />
genre viable.<br />
<strong>DOK</strong>.Incubator supports film<br />
makers and producers<br />
with projects in the rough<br />
cut stage – a time when usually crucial decisions about<br />
the future quality and success of the films are taken under<br />
extreme time and money pressures. Three workshop<br />
modules help them to fully discover the potential of their<br />
films, to further develop and focus the storytelling and<br />
dramaturgy and inspire them regarding creative ways for<br />
marketing and distribution of their projects.<br />
Our aim is to maximize the potential of the film by pro-<br />
viding creative input, plan a powerful film release and<br />
a target distribution strategy as well as inspiring producers<br />
and film makers to use new media tools, social networks<br />
and alternative financing models.<br />
On Wednesday morning, 31 October 2012, you are warmly<br />
invited to experience the results of our training pro-<br />
gramme at the first <strong>DOK</strong>.Incubator Preview. Eight producers<br />
and directors will present their brand new films in front<br />
of industry professionals and potential partners and<br />
