The production process of a film is long and challenging
for everybody involved. Film makers and producers
struggle for developing, financing and realising their
vision whilst financiers and supporters take risks and have
to trust one another until the very end. To bring
the film to its audience, to find international distribution
and recognition is also
Welcome to the
demanding. Even though
the huge world-wide
55th International Leipzig
film and TV market might
Festival for Documentary
seem anonymous, people
are standing behind
and Animated Film
it who are interested in
and to our DOK Market!
meeting the team behind
the films and hearing
a film’s heartbeat. To get to know each other is a key tool to
enter the Film Industry and succeed. To be here at
(Vision du réel and Swiss Films), Czech Republic
(East Silver and Institute of Documentary Film), Chile
(Chile Doc) and Poland (Krakow Film Foundation).
This year we entered into new partnerships with Greece
(StoryDoc) and Canada (Hot Docs). Moreover we are
proud to present the first results of our new training
initiative, DOK.Incubator, which supports documentaries
in post-production.
All presented films have been produced within the last
year 2011 – 2012 and they reflect the philosophy of
DOK Leipzig: They have a unique access to their subject,
they prove the critical point of view of the director and
they stand out for their aesthetic quality. The DOK Market
