Central nervous system injury is the primary etiology of death in injured children and current management techniques have little effect. I have spearheaded the development of a Brain Trauma Program at Children’s Hospital Boston to optimize the management of these children though an evidence-based plan of care, translational research into new management strategies, education concerning their care and a directed prevention program. In addition, participate in several local, regional and national committees related to childhood injury. Local committees include the Board of Directors of the Boston Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services and its Trauma Subcommittee. Regional committees include the Massachusetts State Trauma Committee and the Committee on Trauma of the Massachusetts chapter of the American College of Surgeons. National committees include the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons.
