Biographical Sketch Barbara Geiger-Parker Co-Director New Jersey Barbara Geiger-Parker is President and CEO of the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey. In this position for 22 years, she has had the opportunity to develop the community-based services of the organization to better meet the needs of individuals with brain injury, members of their families, and allied health professionals. She has grown the organization from a staff of four to a staff of 30 and increased the budget 10 fold. Among her accomplishments is establishing, through legislation, the TBI Fund which is a payer of last resort for rehabilitation services needed by people with brain injury. Ms. Geiger-Parker has previous experience managing survey research projects at Rutgers University, Eagleton Institute of Politics. In addition, she has worked for the Arc of New Jersey and Delaware State Government. Ms. Geiger-Parker has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning. She has been appointed and elected to many committees, advisory councils, and boards including Founder and Chair of the statewide Coalition to Preserve Personal Injury Protection, the New Jersey Advisory Council on Traumatic Brain Injury and Brain Injury Association of America Board of Directors.
Biographical Sketch René Carfi Co-Director New Jersey René Carfi is Associate Director of Services for the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey. With the Association for 11 years, she has managed various programs including the Family Support care coordination service, the Information and Resource Service, and Outreach Services. Ms. Carfi has led the development and delivery of training materials aimed at people with brain injury, family members, allied health professionals, and educators. She has overseen an innovative partnership with Rutgers University Department of Continuous Education to provide an on-line course about brain injury for educators. Ms. Carfi has a Masters Degree in Social Work.
