From Eq. (4.2-19), if the pressure is constant and the<br />

system is closed,<br />

Integration of this equation at constant pressure<br />

would give a relation for ∆G for a constant-pressure<br />

temperature change.<br />

We cannot use this relation, because a constant can<br />

be added to the value of the entropy without any<br />

physical effect. Adding a constant to S would change<br />

the value of the integrand in Eq. (4.4-16), changing<br />

the value of the integral.<br />
