1.1. Introduction<br />

- Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, 1743–1794, was a<br />

great French chemist who was called the “father<br />

of modern chemistry” because of his discovery<br />

of the law of conservation of mass.<br />

- Physics has been defined as the study of the<br />

properties of matter that are shared by all<br />

substances, whereas chemistry has been<br />

defined as the study of the properties of<br />

individual substances.<br />
