UJ #2 - Gastronomy

Peru has beautiful natural landscapes, which
is admired by everyone who visits. These
enchanting places produce ingredients that
are considered unique and irreplaceable all
over the world. It is precisely, because of
the great variety of products that Peruvian
gastronomy has today become one of the
best in the world. And, of course, thanks to
contributions by Chinese, Italians, Spanish,
Arabs and Africans, who settled in this land
bringing the best of their traditions. For
that reason Peruvian food is the result of
mixtures and fusions, and is far from being
wholly indigenous. It is exquisite, of that
there is no doubt. A group of Peruvian
chefs with international reputations, as well
as young people just starting out in the
trade, ensure that our cuisine stays in the
headlines and is a subject of conversation
both in Peru and beyond its borders. For
this and other reasons, Peru has become a
gastronomic paradise.

El Perú tiene los más hermosos escenarios
naturales, que generan admiración en
cuanto visitante se anime a conocerlos. En
estos paradisiacos lugares crecen insumos
considerados únicos e insustituibles por
el mundo entero. Es precisamente por la
gran variedad de dichos productos que la
gastronomía peruana se alza hoy como
una de las mejores del mundo. Y, desde
luego, gracias a la contribución de chinos,
japoneses, italianos, españoles, árabes
y africanos, que migraron a estas tierras
trayéndonos lo mejor de sus raíces. Por
eso la comida peruana es el resultado
de mezclas y fusiones, y dista mucho de
ser netamente autóctona. Es exquisita
y de eso no cabe duda alguna. Un
grupo de chefs peruanos de reconocido
prestigio internacional, así como jóvenes
que empiezan a dedicarse a este oficio,
hacen que día a día nuestra cocina ocupe
titulares de medios masivos y sea tema de
conversación, tanto en el Perú como fuera
de sus fronteras. Por estas y otras razones,
el Perú se ha convertido en un paraíso
gastronómico.
