BOSSA BLUES with CAJÓN / LIMA

Bossa Blues con Cajón / Lima
T
he British Peruvian Cultural Association
presents Bossa Blues, a fusion of Brazilian
rhythms and contemporary arrangements
with the Peruvian cajón as percussion. The
group consists of experienced musicians such as Elsa
María Elejalde (vocals), Christian van Lacke (guitar and
vocals), Jairo Zuleta (cajon and harmonica) and Sergio
Flores (double bass).
La Asociación Peruano Británica presenta Bossa Blues, un
concierto acústico donde se fusionarán ritmos brasileños
con arreglos contemporáneos usando en la percusión el
cajón peruano. El grupo está integrado por experimentados
músicos como Elsa María Elejalde (voz), Christian van Lacke
(guitarra y coros), Jairo Zuleta (cajón y armónica) y Sergio
Flores (contrabajo).
National Pisco Day / LIMA

n the 24th of July each year, the whole of
Peru celebrates its national spirit with a series
of festivities. Pisco, on its different styles, is
the subject of national celebrations and free
tastings are held in every city - even the fountain
in Lima's Main Square gushes thousands of litres of
pisco during the day.
Cada 24 de julio, el Perú entero celebra a su bebida
bandera con grandes fiestas. El pisco, presentado en
sus diferentes formatos, es el protagonista de la jarana
nacional y se realizan degustaciones gratuitas en todas las
ciudades, lo que incluye varias piletas públicas, como la de
la Plaza de Armas de Lima, de las cuales brotan miles de
litros de pisco durante un día.

ne hundred ninety one years ago Peru
became independent of Spain, ending almost
300 years of colonial rule. To celebrate that
date the entire country celebrates its independence
over several days at the end of July. Among the most
important events are the grand military parade (on the
29th of July), a concert in Lima's Main Square and great
feasts throughout the whole country.
Hace 191 años el Perú se independizó de España poniendo en
el pasado casi 300 años de colonia. Conmemorando la fecha,
el país entero festeja efusivamente las Fiestas Patrias durante
varios días al final del mes de julio. Entre los eventos más
importantes se encuentra la Gran Parada Militar (realizada
el 29 de julio), un gran concierto en la Plaza de Armas de
Lima y grandes fiestas a lo largo y ancho de todo el país.

n the 27th of September the city of Cusco celebrates, not to commemorate its ancient history,
but to honour the industry that has brought it to the attention of the whole world. World Tourism
Day is one of the most important dates in the city's calendar and numerous activities are planned
in homage to its distinguished visitors. Although the celebrations last all month, on this day in
particular there are enthusiastic welcoming parties at the airport, food tastings, art exhibitions, concerts
and colourful feasts that lend a festive air to the Inca city.

Cada 27 de setiembre la ciudad del Cusco se viste de fiesta no para celebrar su milenario pasado, sino para festejar
la industria que ha llevado su nombre e historia por todo el mundo. El Día Mundial del Turismo es una de las fechas
más importantes para la ciudad y es por ello que se realizan numerosas actividades con el fin de homenajear a sus
distinguidos visitantes. Si bien las celebraciones se dan todo el mes, este día en particular concentra entusiastas
comparsas de bienvenida en el aeropuerto, degustaciones de comida, exhibiciones de arte, conciertos y coloridas
fiestas que le ponen el sello festivo a la ciudad inca.
