hat is just one of the great features of the Palacio Nazarenas
hotel. The rooms, the architecture, the decoration and the historic
heritage make this the perfect place to stay if you are going to
Cusco.
Palacio Nazarenas was built by the Spanish in the 16th Century
on the site of an Inca building, in a privileged part of Cusco known as the
ceremonial centre. Many of the stones in the walls of the building were
taken from ancient Inca buildings. One example is the Inca doorway –in
the passage linking the old and new blocks– that was discovered during
excavation work, carried out, like the restoration and refurbishing of the
hotel, by professionals from the National Cultural Institute.
To a very high standard, the hotel has two parts: one is the old convent
–which once belonged to the Jesuits- their church, patios and colonial-era
cloisters. The other was used as a kitchen garden and stables during the
colonial period. This is the part that contains the suites.
The suites measure 35 square metres to 130 square metres, but they
seem bigger because of the high ceilings that were typical of the age in
which the hotel was built. The ceilings of some suites are masterpieces
of hand carving and painting, the colours of which have inspired the
decoration of the entire hotel.

Nazarenas. Los ambientes, la arquitectura, la decoración y el legado
histórico que guarda lo convierten en el perfecto lugar donde quedarse si
decidió tener al Cusco como destino.
Palacio Nazarenas fue construido por los españoles en el siglo XVI sobre
una edificación Inca, en una zona privilegiada del Cusco conocida como eje
ceremonial. Las numerosas piedras sobre las paredes que exhibe esta edificación
fueron tomadas de antiguas construcciones Incas y reutilizadas. Un claro
ejemplo lo apreciamos en una portada Inca –en el pasaje que une las cuadras
nuevas y antiguas– que fue encontrada mientras se excavaba, trabajo que
se realizó, al igual que el de restauración y acondicionamiento del hotel, con
profesionales del Instituto Nacional de Cultura.
El hotel, con un estándar muy alto de hospitalidad, tiene dos partes: una, el
antiguo convento –de un periodo de los jesuitas–, su iglesia y sus patios de
claustros coloniales. Y otra, el ambiente que hizo las veces de huerto, y los
establos para los caballos del periodo colonial. Precisamente es esta la zona
donde se han levantado las suites.
Las suites tienen desde 35 hasta 130 metros cuadrados, las que lucen más
espaciosas gracias a los techos altos, propios de la arquitectura ancestral. Los
techos de algunas suites son obras maestras artesanales, hechos a mano,
tallados en madera y pintados a colores, cuya paleta inspira la decoración de
todo el hotel.
Todas las habitaciones del Palacio Nazarenas tienen una vista excepcional, y
podrá disfrutar de una noche romántica en cualquiera de estas encantadoras
suites: la Suite Palacio, la Suite Nazarenas, la Suite Grande Deluxe, la Suite
Grande y la Junior Suite Chica Deluxe.
