ROLLING STOCK <strong>PPP</strong> – DOUBLE DECK TRAINS<br />
MAINTENANCE FACILITY SPECIFICATION - ATTACHMENT 7<br />

The key operational objective of the <strong>PPP</strong> Maintenance Facility is to maintain a fleet of 1000<br />
cars comprising the <strong>PPP</strong> Co. Sets and, other <strong>RailCorp</strong> trains. This will include<br />
commissioning of new sets.<br />
Other operational objectives include:<br />
1. The site will be also used for washing of <strong>RailCorp</strong> trains.<br />
2. Accommodate and maintain <strong>RailCorp</strong> electric trains and Sets of 163m length with<br />
provision for 192m trains at nominated locations.<br />
3. Primary access to the facility from the Down Relief with:<br />
• Two turnouts at the Auburn end utilising existing turnouts numbers No.49 and<br />
No.52.<br />
• Two new turnouts at the Clyde end.<br />
• Network access to the Down Relief via Clyburn Junction<br />
4. Secondary access (Access Road 1) to the Down Relief from Storage Roads 1-4 for<br />
additional flexibility and access reliability.<br />
5. Ability to directly access the UWPP and train Washplant facilities from any of the<br />
Storage Roads.<br />
6. Ability to shunt between all Storage Roads and all Standing Roads East.<br />
7. Capability for <strong>RailCorp</strong> crew to deliver sets to, and pick up sets from,<br />
• the Storage Roads;<br />
• the Standing Roads West;<br />
• the UWPP; and<br />
• the Washplant.<br />
8. All storage and standing roads or zones are to be provided with clearances for<br />
signalling, catchpoints and any other operational requirements to prevent fouling<br />
points etc.<br />
9. Access to the MainTrain siding and facilities<br />
10. Car Turning Loop road around western side of MainTrain facility with minimal land<br />
take.<br />
11. Bypass road around the <strong>PPP</strong> Maintenance Facility.<br />
12. Provision is to be made to restrict facilities being constructed within the train run-off<br />
areas from the Catchpoints to provide both a safe run-off area and to limit damage<br />
should trains run-off into these areas.<br />
13. The Down Relief is to be used as a Commissioning Track by the <strong>PPP</strong> Co. during<br />
stage 1.<br />
14. Provision for incorporation of the Future <strong>RailCorp</strong> Development.<br />
Note: The facilities (listed above) and flexibility of the maintenance facility will vary during<br />
the various stages of operation outlined in section 4.<br />
