THE NEXT<br />
Kaka was really excited today. Today he was going to<br />
talk to Preeti for the first time. And now th<strong>at</strong> he was<br />
standing in front of the phone in the quad he wondered<br />
why he hadn’t asked Preeti to talk on phone before.<br />
“I wanted her to be comfortable” he consoled himself.<br />
Preeti was supposed to call <strong>at</strong> 10:30am. He checked his<br />
w<strong>at</strong>ch and saw the time. 10:25am.<br />
“Saala kisi cheez ka intezaar ho to time kitna dheere<br />
ja<strong>at</strong>a hai” He thought.<br />
This is when he saw Haddi running in the corridor<br />
towards him. Haddi slowed down a bit when he was<br />
passing kaka and said<br />
“Neha se milne jaa raha hoon”<br />
Kaka nodded and w<strong>at</strong>ched Haddi run past him. Haddi<br />
hurried out of the hostel and turned towards the road<br />
which led to the STD. Kaka took a deep bre<strong>at</strong>h and<br />
checked the time in his w<strong>at</strong>ch.It was 10:27am. Kaka<br />
could feel the heart be<strong>at</strong>ing loudly against his chest. He<br />
was a bit nervous and excited <strong>at</strong> the same time. The last<br />
time he felt like th<strong>at</strong> was when he was waiting for his<br />
JEE rank.<br />
10:28 AM, kaka was now recalling the sequence of<br />
events th<strong>at</strong> had brought him here. He was sitting in the<br />
CC with Haddi and ch<strong>at</strong>ting with preeti. Haddi had been<br />
quiet impressed with the way kaka was talking with<br />
Preeti. However when he asked<br />
“To kaka ab tak tumne 5-6 baar phone pe ba<strong>at</strong> to kar hi<br />
lee hogi”<br />
and got a neg<strong>at</strong>ive reply from kaka, Haddi was quiet<br />
stunned.
