Figure 5-15 provides an overview of a sysplex and LPAR.
5.4.2 Network monitoring
Performance issues can also result from a network problem, such as high network latency
times. Analyzing network problems is often difficult, because the problem can occur
periodically, irregularly, or sporadically. For example, a problem might only emerge when a
particular server is online.
In addition, you can access external tools, such as the network interface layer test program
called niping, from the SAP Application, to analyze the following information:
► DB2 Ping (transaction db2 � Diagnostics � DB Connections � DB2 Ping)
This option tests the instantaneous network response time from Application Server to
database host. No historic data is available.
