Chapter 2. Architectural overview of SAP<br />
NetWeaver with DB2 for z/OS<br />
This chapter begins an overview of the SAP NetWeaver system architecture and introduces<br />
frequently used SAP terms. It continues with the description of a typical setup for deploying<br />
an SAP system using DB2 for z/OS as the database management system. It also describes<br />
the difference between using DB2 Connect and the call level interface (CLI) of DB2 Connect<br />
to access a DB2 server.<br />
This chapter also describes the main aspects of business continuity and the business<br />
continuity configuration for SAP. It addresses rolling maintenance, the SAP components, how<br />
SAP is used in a data sharing environment, network setup, and I/O setup. This chapter<br />
concludes with a description of SAP on the <strong>IBM</strong> zEnterprise System.<br />
