Chapter 5. Managing and monitoring with<br />

<strong>IBM</strong> zEnterprise Unified<br />

Resource Manager<br />

This chapter explains how you can extend an SAP system or change a server configuration<br />

by using the <strong>IBM</strong> zEnterprise Unified Resource Manager. Unified Resource Manager<br />

manages the <strong>IBM</strong> zEnterprise environment: <strong>IBM</strong> System z and zEnterprise BladeCenter<br />

Extension (zBX).<br />

This chapter begins with a description of the functions used in the ITSO lab environment and<br />

how we used them. Then it explains how you can manage SAP tasks by using the Unified<br />

Resource Manager. The chapter continues with a brief explanation of how to modify server<br />

resources and an outline of the Computing Center Management Center and operating system<br />

monitoring.<br />
