Chapter 8. Security enhancements of
DB2 10 for SAP solutions

Government regulations and laws are increasing. Companies are now more often focused on
security functions, such as accountability, audit ability, increased privacy, and security
requirements, when designing their IT solutions. With SAP solutions that use DB2 10 as the
database server, you can take advantage of a high degree of security that avoids security
issues, such as insider threats, thefts, compromises, and outside threats. DB2 10 introduces
a new model of security and provides innovations for security and auditing that improve and
further secure business-critical data held in DB2 10 for the SAP system.
This chapter highlights the following security enhancements provided with DB2 10 for z/OS:
► Separation of duties for database and security administrators
► New audit policy for DB2 10
► Writing SQL to audit SAP tables
► SSL data stream encryption between an SAP NetWeaver Application Server and DB2 10
database server
► Trusted security context and roles in DB2 10
► Protection of data sets in DB2 10
