at hand, when his and his People's Iniquity fhall

Crown.'] The Words Crown and Diadem are equivalent,
and put to fignify the Kingly Ornaments
of Dignity. See Ifa. lxii. $. Indeed the Crown is
elfewhere taken for the Emblem of Sovereignty,
and the Diadem or Miter for the proper Ornament
of the Priefthood, and fo the Chaldee Paraphrafe
exprelTes the Senfe of the Verfe in thefe Words,
Remove the Miter from Seraiah the chief Trieft,
and I will take away the Crown from Zedekiah the
Kjng. But I conceive this Senfe does not To well
agree with the Defign of the place where the
Judgment threatned is fpoken only of Zjdekiah.
Ibid. This fljall not be the fame : exalt him that

not continue in their prefent State : as Zsdekiah
fhall be brought down from his Kingly Dignity,
fo another Branch of that Family, viz. Christ,
(See Ver. 27.) fhall be advanced from an obfcure
Original and low Condition, to the fupreme De-
gree of Sovereignty. Compare Chap. xvii. 24.
