IX. Me, p. 36, 38. The Ethiofick Letter T^w/ or T^a
0*V^O ftill retains the Form of a Crofs; and the learned
Ludolphus fuppofes, that the Etbiopick Letters
were borrowed from the Samaritans. The Coptick
Letter of that Sound is in the fame Form.
The Modern' Antiquaries do all agree, that the Samaritan
Thau was in the Form of a Greek X. But
whether their Authority be fufficient to outweigh
that of St. Jerow, muft be left to the Learned to
judge. - It is obfervable, that the High Prieft was
anointed upon the Forehead, in the Form of a X,
as 6 elden allures us, lib. 2. de Saccefs. in Tontif.
