L/V>J St. Jerom upon the place underftands thefe three<br />

Words Tekod, Shoa, and Kj>a, in an aAppellative<br />

Senfe, to denote fo many Titles or Degrees of Honour,<br />

as much as to fay, Governors, Princes, and<br />

great Men. In which Senfe the two former<br />

Words, Tekod, (or Takud) and Shoa, are confeffedly<br />

taken in Scripture : and Kja is fuppofed to be<br />

derived from the Verb KjiUng, which fignifies<br />

Printing Marks in the Flefh. Levit.xix. 28. and<br />

it was the Cuftom of great Men to diftinguifh<br />

themfelves from their Inferiors by fuch Marks or<br />

their Riches and Bravery made them appear ami-<br />

able in your Eyes when you firit. courted their Alliance,<br />
