as the Chaldee Paraphraft explains it. In the Hebrew
Language all Lakes are called by the Name
of Seas. The fame is called the Eaftern Sea,
Chap, xlvii. 1 8. to diftinguifh it from the Mediterranean,
called the Great Sea Weftward, Jojfr.
xxiii. 4. The Valley near this Sea or Lake is called
the Valley of the Tajfengers, becaufe it was a great
Road by which the Merchants and Traders from
Syria and other Eaftern Countries went into
Egypt.
