The Argument.<br />

This Chapter contains Ezekiel'j" Commijfion for ex-<br />

ecuting his Trophetical Office, and Iufiruclions<br />

given him for the difcharge of it,<br />

Man.~\ This Expreflion is commonly<br />

underftood to fignify<br />

the fame with a common and<br />

ordinary Man, as it is ufually<br />

expounded in that Text, TJal. viii. 4. What is<br />

Man that thou art mindful of him, or the Son of<br />

Man that thou vifiteft him ? So here moil: Commentators<br />

underftand it as applied to the Prophet, to<br />

put him in Mind of his Frailty and Mortality, and<br />

of the infinite Diftance between God and Man.<br />

In which fenfe it is fuppos'd to be taken when fpoken<br />

of Chrift in the New Teftament, implying<br />

his great Humility in afTuming our Nature, and<br />

appearing no otherwife than an ordinary Man:<br />
