Waters were to the Ancles, &c] The gradual Rife
of the Waters reprefented in this Virion, denotes
the large Effuiion of the Spirit, which was very remarkable
at the firft Publication of the Gofpel,
and its wonderful Increafe from fmall Beginnings ;
and will be fo again, when God mall pour the Spirit
of Grace upon the Jews, in order to their Conver-
iion : Zech. xii. 10. See the Note upon If a. liv. 13.
The Supplies of Grace are often reprefented in the
Holy Writers under the Metaphor of a River, and
Streams watering the dry and thirfty Earth, both
cleanfing and making fruitful the Ground where
they pafs. The Metaphor is probably taken from
the River that watered Paradife : See Revel, xxii. 1
and Compare Zech. xiii. 1. xiv. 8. Ifa. xliv. 3. and
fee the Notes upon Ifa. xxx. 25.
Ver. 6, Ver. 6. And he [aid unto me, Son of Man, haft
thoufeen this?~\ Haft thou confidered or taken Notice
of this Virion now fhewed unto thee ? Comp.
Chapt. xl. 4. To fee, often fignifies to take Notice
the contrary, they are faid to
