Whatsoever Men dedicate to God, the Ufe of it<br />

fhall accrue to the Priefts : If it be a living Creature,<br />

it fhall be killed, and the Prieft fhall have<br />

the Benefit of it : If it be a Piece of Land, it fhall<br />

belong to the Priefts: See Levit. xxvii. 27, 28.<br />

Ver. 30. Ver. 30. And the firft of all Firfl-fruit s of all<br />

things, and every Oblation of every [ort of your Ob-<br />

• lations Jhall be the Priefts.~\ The Words tranflated<br />

Tirft-fruits and Oblations, are in the Hebrew Bkcurim<br />

and Trumah. The former imports the Firftripe,<br />

or beft of the Fruits, while they were growing<br />

in the Field. Comp. Exod. xxiii. 19. with Nu?n.<br />

xviii. 12. The latter denotes an Oblation out of<br />

the Product of the Ground, after it was made fit for<br />

Ufe : As out of the Corn after it was threfhed<br />

and laid in Heaps in the Floor or Granary : And fo<br />

of Oyl and Wine, after they were prefled and fitted<br />

for fpending. Thefe Oblations are by fome<br />

Authors, particularly by Mr. Selden in his Trea-<br />

tife of Tithes, Chap. 2. efteemed to amount to the<br />

fixtieth Part of the whole produce. Schindler rates<br />

the Biccurim at the loweft Proportion to be the<br />

fixtieth Part, and computes the Trumah at the fiftieth.<br />

Dr Cumber fuppofes the Biccurim to amount<br />

to an hundreth Part, and the Trumah at a Medium<br />
