Cha pter Dr. Lightfoot upon John x v. 6. renders the place,
VTIL They fut the 'Branch to my Wrath, or, to their
t/*VNJ Wrath: that is, they add more Fewel to my
Wrath, which will burft out like a Flame to confume
them : juft as if one (hould lay an Heap of
dry Sticks upon a Fire. Compare Chap. xv. 6,
Ver. 1 8. Ver - *%' Therefore will I alfo deal in Fury.~]
God's unalterable Decree of executing Vengeance
upon them for their heinous Iniquities, is defcribed
like the Fury of an enraged Perfon, which cannot
° be appeafed but by bringing the Offender to con-
dign Punifhment. See Chap. v. 13. xvi. 42. xxiv,
