Conclusion: The data reveals that the receptor TLR4 is involved in immune<br />

response in symptomatics dogs chronic infected. The high ROS production<br />

observed in infected dogs indicates that ROS not showed antimicrobial<br />

effect <strong>and</strong> suggest that ROS could be useful by the protozoa to chronic the<br />

infection. Studies are in progress to further determine the mechanisms involved<br />

in this process.<br />
