Space should be made available in new
streetscape designs to accommodate
future art installations.
Installations can be coordinated with
existing local art initiatives to leverage
their impact.
Work in a public right-of-way or on public
land is subject to conditions set forth by
local, state, and federal requirements. A
permit for erecting a piece of art or design
element may be required.
Art installations should elevate the
awareness of visitors to the unique
qualities of the District and to current
cultural issues.
Installations that intentionally off end or
are obscene should be avoided and may
be prohibited under local, or state laws.
Permanent installations should be
constructed of lasting materials that can
withstand abuse.
