PREFACIO
Es un gran placer introducir esta última
versión del Manual de capacitación en
técnicas de investigación y conservación
de campo. Ya ha sido publicado en seis
idiomas y la traducción al español es un
gran avance para la divulgación de esta
información tan importante al ponerla al
alcance de tanta gente dedicada y
entusiasmada en toda América Latina. En
América Latina se alberga mucha de la
diversidad biológica más espectacular del
mundo, la cual está continuamente
amenazada por actividades humanas. Por
suerte, en muchos países de América
Latina también se encuentran científicos
y convervacionistas apasionados, tratando
de enfrentar estas amenazas y proteger
sus espacios silvestres y sus animales para
las generaciones futuras. Es mi deseo
sincero que la versión en español de este
Manual de capacitación provea protección
y conservación de la vida silvestre y los
hábitats que ocupa, sea mediante la
enseñanza, la investigación de campo, o
cambiando políticas. A todos aquellos que
tomen y usen este libro, les agradezco por
su esfuerzo y les ruego que continúen
siguiendo su corazón.
PREFACE
It is with great pleasure that I introduce
this newest version of the wildlife field
research and conservation training
manual. Already published in six other
languages, the translation of this book into
the Spanish language is a great step
forward towards disseminating this
important information and making it
available to the large numbers of
dedicated, enthusiastic individuals
throughout Latin America. Latin America
contains some of the world’s most
spectacular biodiversity, which is under
continual threat from human activities.
Fortunately, many Latin American
countries also contain passionate scientists
and conservationists trying to counter
these threats and protect their wild lands
and wildlife for future generations. It is
my sincere hope that the Spanish version
of this training manual provides additional
knowledge and tools to those wishing to
have an impact on protecting and
conserving wildlife and the habitats the
occupy, be it through teaching, doing field
research, or changing policy. To all of
those who might pick up and use this book,
I thank you for your efforts and I urge
you to continue to follow your heart.
