Some Aspects of Aesthetic Problems of Synesthesy<br />

Summary<br />

The present paper deals with the aesthetic context of music and seeing<br />

colours, of synesthesy and synesthesic art. The colours of the instruments, the<br />

descriptions of certain modes and the feeling in the composition formed the<br />

method for this paper. The integral problem here is to discover whether the<br />

recipients see the colours in the music the composer has experienced and<br />

whether they catch the feeling of the music in their paintings.<br />

The paper discusses that integration of the arts as well as the effects of<br />

colour and music has been researched separately. This represents a new<br />

aesthetic method for experimenting on the synesthesy of the senses. The testing<br />

and developing of the method is in its early stages. More complex and valid<br />

results could be achieved by collaborating with specialists in various branches of<br />

art. Integration between visual arts and music and even of researchers awaits<br />

futher research including looking into identity of music and colours.<br />

The paper underlines, that the correspondence between sounds and colors is<br />

based on the relations between the frequencies of the sounds and the frequencies of the<br />

colors when mixing sounds and lights; there are many similarities between the music and<br />

the colours of paintings.<br />
