62 LUXURYfiles SUMMER 2012
On the beautiful roof garden of the Bulgari Hotel
(www.bulgarihotels.com), surrounded by copper
beech hedges in the heart of Milan’s high-fashion
district, you can relive the charm of the years before
Prohibition in America, asking the bartender to prepare
historic cocktails using the original recipes such
as the Sazerac, made with Rye whiskey and drops of
Peychaud Bitter, invented by a pharmacist in New
Orleans in 1830 and the Mint Julep, born in
America around 1800 and attributed to Captain
Marryat of the Royal Navy, who created it during his
overseas travels. Otherwise sip a glass of Dom
Perignon accompanied by light and tasty amusebouche
in the lounge bar especially fitted out for the
French brand. Until mid-September, then, the
Principe di Savoia opens its doors to the Champagne
bar veranda. Here, the young elite relies on the wise
selections of the sommelier Alessandra Veronese.
Finally, for oysters and lobsters fans, the bistro
Langosteria 10 (www.langosteria10bistrot.it) offers a
