For example; for thermal analysis, weather data and modelling geometry in an appropriate manner is important; and appropriate/comprehensive material data is required for almost all other types of analysis. The ECOTECT Help File attempts to guide/educate users about this and when/how it is important. Like any analysis program it's a matter of, "garbage in, garbage out...".

EE4 CBIP 41 Doc.No 20100610.SIMEA.MR.03 Versione 1 Designed to demonstrate a building's compliance to the requirements of the Commercial Building Incentive Program (CBIP) performance path approach. EE4 CBIP is offered by Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency to building owners and developers for the design and construction of new commercial and institutional buildings that use 25% less energy than similar buildings built to the requirements of the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). EE4 CBIP may also be used to perform non-compliance energy analyses and thus to predict a building's annual energy consumption, and to assess the impact of design changes to the building. 1.2.20.1. Expertise Required Basic understanding of Windows. Knowledge of building modelling. Engineering background helpful but not required. 1.2.20.2. Users 1000 1.2.20.3. Audience Mechanical, building, energy engineers and architects working for consulting firms, building owners and/or designers; building and energy-code verifiers; CBIP application reviewers. 1.2.20.4. Input Basic information, envelope components areas and characteristics, characteristics of the building's HVAC, lighting and service water heating systems. 1.2.20.5. Output Energy consumption and energy cost of proposed design and CBIP reference building. Summary and detailed compliance reports. 1.2.20.6. Programming Language Borland C++ 1.2.20.8. Strengths EE4 CBIP automatically generates a reference building to verify compliance to CBIP requirements using the performance path approach. EE4 CBIP can also be used in non-compliance mode to predict a building's annual energy consumption and energy cost. Includes default libraries of common building plants, systems, construction assemblies and materials, lighting elements, fenestration and operating schedules.
