SUMMARY<br />
Ischnura elegans was and still is beyond doubt the most common of all dragonfly species <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Wellemeersen</strong>.<br />
It can be found all over the reserve and it can be seen throughout the whole season. Great stocks of it still exist on the sand<br />
pools and on Gates. Two generations per year occur with a certa<strong>in</strong> <strong>de</strong>gree of overlap. At night great numbers gather <strong>in</strong> the ve-<br />
getation surround<strong>in</strong>g the ponds and <strong>in</strong> the nearby Carex-girdles.<br />
