SUMMARY<br />
Enallagma cyarhigerum was first recor<strong>de</strong>d by DUMONT on the Gates pond <strong>in</strong> 1966. It was at the same time very abundant,<br />
<strong>in</strong>dicat<strong>in</strong>g it must have occurred there earlier. This “<strong>in</strong>va<strong>de</strong>r” was able to drive out Coenagrion puella and Coenagrion<br />
pulchellum from Gates. Although few specimen were seen on the sand pools, DUMONT suspected a further expansion<br />
there. The observations <strong>in</strong> the period 1996-2007 however <strong>in</strong>dicate no change <strong>in</strong> the previous situation. Enallagma<br />
cyathigerum is still the dom<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g species on the Gates pond, on the sand pools observations rema<strong>in</strong> rare to exceptional.<br />
