aurally. Concurrent with <strong>the</strong> presentation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second emotion, participants were<br />

asked to indicate if <strong>the</strong> second non-verbal emotion was <strong>the</strong> same or different from <strong>the</strong><br />

first using a key press (Figure 7.1). The need for speed and accuracy were<br />

emphasised. Each block lasted approximately 10-15 minutes.<br />

In experiment 2, <strong>the</strong> same stimuli and paradigm were used, but participants<br />

were instructed to indicate if <strong>the</strong> prime and target emotions were expressed by <strong>the</strong><br />

same or different person.
