Thermatic (automatic air conditioning)<br />

Observe the following notes to ensure that<br />

Thermatic functions correctly:<br />

Keep the air inlet between the bonnet<br />

and the windscreen free of deposits,<br />

e.g. ice or snow, to ensure the flow of<br />

fresh air to the vehicle interior.<br />

Never cover the vents or air inlet and<br />

outlet grilles in the vehicle interior.<br />

Risk of accident G<br />

Follow the settings for heating and cooling<br />

recommended on the following pages. The<br />

windows could otherwise mist up. You may no<br />

longer be able to observe the traffic conditions<br />

and could cause an accident.<br />

Condensation may form on the underside<br />

of the vehicle in cooling mode.<br />

Environmental note H<br />

The air conditioning uses the refrigerant<br />

R 134 A. This refrigerant does not damage<br />

the earth's ozone layer.<br />

Turn airflow control 1 ( page 184) to<br />

Select this setting when you are driving<br />

with the windows or the sliding sunroof*<br />

open, for example. Air supply and<br />

air circulation are switched off if Thermatic<br />

is switched off. Only select this<br />

setting for a brief period.
