Press the Πbutton on the key<br />

The vehicle is unlocked centrally.<br />

Remove the emergency key element<br />

from the key ( page 348).<br />

Insert the emergency key element into<br />

the rear door lock.<br />

Turn the emergency key element fully<br />

clockwise as far as position 1.<br />

The rear door remains locked even if<br />

the vehicle is unlocked centrally again.<br />

You will only be able to unlock the rear<br />

door using the emergency key element<br />

if it was previously locked separately<br />

using the emergency key element<br />

( page 348).<br />

When the vehicle has been locked centrally:<br />

the anti-theft alarm system* is<br />

triggered if you unlock the rear door using<br />

the emergency key element and<br />

open it.<br />

To disable the alarm:<br />

Press the ‹ or Œ button on<br />

the key.<br />

or<br />

Switch on the ignition.<br />

Make sure that the tailgate is always closed<br />

when the engine is running. Exhaust fumes<br />

could otherwise get into the vehicle interior<br />

and poison you.<br />

The rear lights may be concealed when the<br />

spare wheel bracket is folded out to the<br />

side. Other road users may then fail to notice<br />

you and could crash into your vehicle.<br />

You should provide additional protection for<br />

the vehicle by using a warning lamp or warning<br />

triangle.<br />

Do not drive with the spare wheel bracket<br />

folded out to the side. You could otherwise<br />

endanger yourself and others.<br />

Make sure that the spare wheel bracket is<br />

correctly locked in place.<br />

The tailgate swings downwards and<br />

out. Make sure therefore that there is<br />

sufficient clearance below the tailgate. <br />
