CAC<br />

(Customer Assistance Center)<br />

DaimlerChrysler Customer Service<br />

Center offering advice on all matters<br />

concerning your vehicle and support in<br />

the event of a breakdown.<br />

CAN system<br />

(Controller Area Network)<br />

Controls vehicle functions such as the<br />

central locking system or windscreen<br />

wipers depending on the vehicle or environmental<br />

conditions and delivers information<br />

to the ->operating system.<br />

This system works because the electronic<br />

systems in the vehicle are all interconnected.<br />

CDI<br />

(Common Rail Direct Injection)<br />

Diesel injection technology in which all<br />

cylinders have a common feed line.<br />

Fine injection nozzles allow very precise<br />

metering, which lowers diesel consumption.<br />

Chassis number<br />

Number determined by the manufacturer<br />

and affixed to the body, by which<br />

each vehicle can be clearly identified.<br />

Child seat recognition<br />

Special child seats are available from<br />

any <strong>Mercedes</strong>-Benz Service Centre for<br />

automatic child seat recognition on the<br />

front-passenger seat. If you have fitted<br />

a special child seat of this kind to the<br />

front-passenger seat, the front-passenger<br />

airbag is automatically deactivated<br />

(the AIRBAG OFF warning lamp on the<br />

centre console lights up).<br />

Cockpit<br />

All the instruments, switches, buttons<br />

and warning and indicator lamps in the<br />

passenger compartment of your vehicle<br />

necessary for monitoring and controlling<br />

the vehicle.<br />

which controls the engine function.<br />

Cruise control<br />

System which enables a vehicle speed<br />

set by the driver to be maintained automatically.<br />

Differential lock<br />

Provides better ->traction in poor road<br />

conditions. Since the ->differential unit<br />

enables ->wheels to spin separately,<br />

the differential lock can prevent this<br />

and lock both driven ->wheels together<br />

via the ->differential unit.
