SEMINAR IN EDINBURGH: INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY FOR<br />

ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE – SYNERGIES, GAPS,<br />

CONFLICTS AND INCENTIVES<br />

On 5 September 2008 the Royal Commission hosted a seminar at the BMA Scotland Offices, in support<br />

of the adaptation study. The seminar was attended by over 30 participants including Members of the<br />

Commission and Secretariat, and officials from both the Northern Ireland and Scottish Governments,<br />

as well as non-governmental organisations and industry.<br />

Participants discussed a wide range of <strong>to</strong>pics, including the differences between adaptation in Scotland,<br />

England and Northern Ireland, and the need <strong>to</strong> make adaptation relevant <strong>to</strong> people both as individuals<br />

and as part of institutions.<br />
