shire, now in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The figures are embroidered with<br />

silk on a ground of gold thread. The style is that of the early fourteenth century<br />

I. Richard Beauchamp, Earl ofWarwick: bronze, cast by William Austen from<br />

a wooden model by John Massingham. The tomb was commissioned in 1454,<br />

fifteen years after the earl's death, and therefore is in no way a likeness. It is in the<br />

Beauchamp Chapel, St. Mary's, Warwick
