MOJONERA, landmark, or place where landmarks are set, see mojon (1).
MOLASA, a var. of soft sandstone (arenisca), formed of fine grains of
quartz, felspar, carbonate of lime and mica (Barcena), comp. macino.
MOLDE, mould, pattern ; m. de lingote, ingot -mould, see planchera (1)
and (2), plantilla (1), vacio (2).
MOLE, Ant. Col. (1) galena ; (2) moles or molis, sulphides or concentrates
consisting principally of galena ; "la parte mas pesada y rica
de las concentrados, generalmente la galena, cobre gris y sulfuros
pesados de la mena " (G. F. Gamba), see jagua (3).
MOLEDORA, Peru, upper millstone (Dwight), seemuela (1).
MOLER, to grind or crush ore with rolls, to pulverise, comp. machacar,
a flat or
majar ;
m. a mano, Ant. Col. to grind ore on a stone having
concave surface [comp. metate (1)], or to break it up into small fragments
in a wooden pilon (7), or in an iron mortar (Uribe), comp.
granzear ; m. en seco, Peru, dry grinding ; m. por sutil, Peru, wet
grinding (Dwight) ; piedra de m., grindstone, see u. piedra.
MOLERO, see u, tierras (4).
MOLIENDA, (1) grinding or pounding ores, etc. ; wet grinding or
pulverising in the arrastre (3), pan, etc., it follows the (usually) dry crush-

la molienda," ores ground.

MOLINERA, Sierra Almagrera, Sp. carbonate of iron (siderosa).
MOLINERO, Mex. man employed in crushing ore with stamps or molinos
(Lyon) ; Ant. Col. mill-man or one in charge of mill.
MOLINETE, (1) Ant. Col. a kind of windlass, used with a pulley, for
raising weights, e.g., stamp stems, see torno (2) ; (2)m. del cabrestante,
barrel of the capstan, comp. tambor (1) ; (3) m. de friccion, friction
roller, syn. rodillo de friccion ; (4) beater of the dolly-tub,
see batidor
(2) ; (5) float-board brake -regulator in automatic inclined planes,
see u. regulador ; (6) m. de acero, steel-mill or disc used in collieries
for lighting purposes in latter half of eighteenth century, equiv. Fr.
rouet a silex.
MOLINO, (1) mill, strictly speaking a pulverising-mill only, but in
Mex. = stamp-mill or crusher, and may be any ordinary mill, see

verticales, edge-mill ; m. de agua, water-mill ; m. de arrastre (3),
arrastre ; m. de aserrar, saw-mill ; m. de bolas, ball-mill ; m. de
cilindros, crusher or rolls ; m. de estampar, stamping-mill, see
ingenio (2) ; m. de herreria or de fragua, forge-mill ; m. de mano,
hand-mill ; m. de mineral, ore-mill ; m. de muestra, sample-grinder ;
m. de pisones (2), Col. stamp-mill ; m. de sangre, mill turned by men or
