ADMINISTRACI6N, (1) management ; (2) trusteeship, administration ;<br />

en administration, in trust ; (3) a. de correos, post-<strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

ADMINISTRADOR, (1) manager, see superintendente (1) ; (2) trustee,<br />

see tenedor (1).<br />

ADOBE, (1) a brick made <strong>of</strong> straw, earth and dung, baked in the sun, but<br />

not burnt. Adobes are usually three-quarters <strong>of</strong> a vara long, half a<br />

vara wide, and from three to four inches thhk, comp. ladrillo. (2) Met.<br />

smalls, when mixed with limestone and water, form a paste, which is<br />

made into cubes, called adobes, <strong>of</strong> from five to six centimetres side.<br />

These are allowed to dry and harden before being put into the furnace<br />

(S. Ramirez), see u. tierra (4). (3) U.S.A. reddish brown material<br />

covering basin-deserts, comp. caliche (4) or tepetate (6).<br />

ADOBERA, a mould for making adobes (1).<br />
