BORNEADOR, blast, the man who turns the drill, comp. piqueador.
BORNEAR, blast, to turn the drill [barrena (-2)], comp. piquear.
BORRA, (1) Mex. vein-matter or matrix, seematriz (1) ; (2) Mex. barren
rock, see esteril (2) ; b. de veta, soft rotten rock (Dwight) ; (3) en borra,
Mex. in poor or unproductive ground (of a mine or vein) ; (4) Mex.
lead-dross (Dwight) ; (5) refined borax (borax) ; (6) Chile, Peru,
sediment deposited in the chulladores, com.p. ripio (8).
BORRACHO (intoxicated), (1) borrachos, Ant. Col. vertical pieces of wood
connecting a water-wheel with the pumps used in unwatering trinchos
the rocker
(2) or tapas (4), and which oscillate at the lower end (Muiioz) ;
of a Cornish pump when driven by a water-wheel, see bomba (1) ;
(2) Mex. in the patio process, a globule of mercury (cuerpo) which has
a sluggish or irregular movement in rolling about the vanning-horn.

BORRASCA (storm, tempest), Span. Am. (1) an unproductive mine, or a
mine in an unproductive state : "La difusi6nde la mena en la masa "
(Molina) ; comp. bonanza dar or caer en b. ; (Chile, enbroceo), to become
unprofitable (of a mine or vein), see emborrascarse, comp. borra (3) ;
(2) barren rock, syn. piedra bruta (2), see esteril (2), roca (2) ; (3) b. de
la capa, see dispersion.
BOSADO, oro b., Ant. Col. alluvial gold, see u. corrido, da.
BOSQUE, wood, forest, grove.
BOTA (small leather wine-bag), Mex. a large bag made of ox-hides and
used for drawing water from the shafts ; they hold from 70 to 200
gallons of water, and are worked by a winch [torno (2)] or mule-whim
[malacate (1)]. The hoop at the top = aro. A bota grande, made from
2 to 2 hides, will hold up to 200 gals, of water, a bota of 1 hide holds
up to 125 gals., a bota of 1 hide from 37 to 75 gals. ; see botilla, desagiie
(2), saco (1), u. soga, comp. zaca ; a bota chica is a small leather bag.
BOTADERO, (1) shallow of a river, ford, see vadera ; (2) dumpingground
for ore or waste (Ger. Halde), see vaciadero.
BOTADOR, (1) punch (for driving out nails), comp. punzon (3);
(2) furnace-bar, fire-iron ; (3) b. de homo, tapping-bar (Ponce de
Leon), syn. espeton (1).

BOTELLA, (1) bottle, flask ; una b. de azogue, one flask of quicksilver,
see frasco ; (2) botellas, bell-pits (Molina), syn. grandes camaras.
BOTILLA (dim. of bota), b. de burro, Mex. a sack or bag of neat hide, and
worked by a burro (3) or hand-whim ; b. de lomo, a small sack made of
one-third of a hide to carry water out of small sinkings on men's backs
(M. J. Gloss.), see bota, saco (1), soguilla.
