ESQUELETO (skeleton), esqueletos, in fining tin (afino), spongy masses
left on furnace bed, requiring higher temperature to melt them, see. u.
estano (suppl.); residual copper (Ger. Kiehnstocke), in the (silver)
liquation process, containing about one-third lead (in weight) ; residual
copper (Ger. Darrling) from the drying process, containing about
15 per cent, lead (Barinaga), see resudado (2) (suppl.).

ESTEREIS, Braz. (1) veinstone or matrix, see esteril (1), matriz (1);

ESTERO, (3) Cadiz, Sp. salt-m., first recipient of saline waters in form of a
labyrinth, in which sands, etc., in suspension, are deposited ; it then
passes to a similar one called lucio, in which the rest of the material in
suspension, is deposited, and in which concentration by solar heat,
wind, etc., begins ; then to vueltas de periquillo, where concentration
is graduated, terminating in the retenida ; the brine then passes to
distributing channels (cabeceras), and, finally, to the tajos (11) or
cristalizadores, where the salts are precipitated (Estad. Min. de Espafia,
1908).
