Science news:<br />

<strong>The</strong> structure of a novel compound isolated from <strong>Salvia</strong> <strong>divinorum</strong>-tentatively<br />

named "divinorin C"--is described by L.J. Valdés III in lab<br />

notes that he has graciously shared with <strong>The</strong> <strong>Salvia</strong> <strong>divinorum</strong> <strong>Research</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>Information</strong> <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

I am working with a group in Canada on a double-blind study to test<br />

the effectiveness of low dose, sublingually absorbed <strong>Salvia</strong> <strong>divinorum</strong> as<br />

an aid to meditation. This study will be partly funded by MAPS <strong>and</strong> the<br />

results will be published in the MAPS newsletter.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Salvia</strong> splendens double-blind study is complete. <strong>The</strong> results are<br />

reported in an interview that I gave for the Entheogen Review. See:<br />
