Section 173.188<br />

Section 173.187 prescribes the packaging requirements for white and yellow<br />

phosphorus. To provide greater flexibility in packaging selection, steel, aluminum or other<br />

metal boxes (4A, 4B or 4N) are added to the list <strong>of</strong> authorized packagings in paragraph<br />

(a)(1). In addition, <strong>PHMSA</strong> is adding steel, aluminum or other metal drums (1A1, 1B1 or<br />

1N1) not over 250 L (66 gallons) capacity each and steel, aluminum or other metal drums<br />

(1A2, 1B2, or 1N2) not over 115 L (30 gallons) capacity each, to the list <strong>of</strong> authorized<br />

packagings in paragraph (a)(2).<br />

Section 173.189<br />

Section 173.189 prescribes the packaging and transport requirements for batteries<br />

containing sodium or cells containing sodium. To provide greater flexibility in packaging<br />

selection, <strong>PHMSA</strong> is adding 1N2, 4A, 4B, 4N, 4H1, 3A2, 3B3 and 3H2 outer packagings<br />

to the list <strong>of</strong> authorized outer packagings in paragraph (b).<br />

Section 173.193<br />

Section 173.193 prescribes the packaging requirements for bromoacetone, methyl<br />

bromide, chloropicrin and methyl bromide or methyl chloride mixtures. To provide<br />

greater flexibility in packaging selection, metal boxes (4A, 4B or 4N) are added to the list<br />

<strong>of</strong> authorized outer packagings in paragraph (a).<br />

Section 173.194<br />

Section 173.194 prescribes the packaging requirements for gas identification sets.<br />

To provide greater flexibility in packaging selection, metal boxes (4A, 4B or 4N) are added<br />

to the list <strong>of</strong> authorized outer packagings in paragraphs (b)(1) and (b)(2).<br />
