APPENDIX C: Device Numbers The device numbers (see "Required parameters," pages ?, under "FORMCAP" above) reserved in the SLATE printer database are listed below. New printers can be added using SLATE software (generally done by the MUSE Project staff). As of version 3.4 of MUSE, we have converted from a system where every printer had a unique number to a generalized system with common numbering for dot matrix and laser printers. This was necessary because of the increasing size of the printer database. In the current system we will only ship the appropriate database for the printers in use by each site. If additional printer support is needed (e.g. more than one model of dot matrix or laser printer), contact the MUSE Project.
