HOW THE MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT ALIGN:
The prospective student population will likely represent the demographics of the Oakland Unified
School District:
CI 70% low-income ( free and reduced —priced lunch) students
a 60 % students of color
ci At least 50% students from the targeted schools in the district
The student population that will be served often times reflect, academically, low-achieving
students. Section 47605 of the Charter Schools Act of 1992 provides that in reviewing petitions for the
tablishment of charter schools within the district's governing board. It shall give preference to petitions

demonstrate the capability to provide comprehensive learning experiences to students identified by
the petitioners as academically low —achieving pursuant to the standards established by the State
Department of Education under Education Code section 54032.
IEC will offer a comprehensive learning experience designed to serve the needs of such students
through effective project and technology based instruction. It will be coupled with career training, job
search support, and behavioral health services, which is relevant to inspire hope for students who have
become disenchanted. Accordingly, this petition is entitled to preference in the review and approval.
